I had a major poetry phase back in 2003. Here are three pieces that were published by Targeted Publications+Media in Portfolio Weekly (Norfolk, VA) and Style Weekly (Richmond, VA). Oh to be 20 and involved in a rocky love affair with your best friend. A Friend of Mine children laughing. infants crying. old women singing hymns. a couple bickering. the sounds of life- the things I hear in your voice. Spilled Staring- watching me give my innerself gazing- while I expose my soul to you There it is- spilling on the table staining the wood, adding to its imperfections and you remain still- not willing to clean up the mess, or even pass me a towel so I can do it myself. Missing I don’t know you. I don’t know your wants. I can’t see your needs. I have no understanding of your dreams, your feelings, your desires. What are your coordinates? Where does your reality begin? and end? You are traveling- leaving no trail for me to follow, How can I possibly get to you? I will never find you- Because you’ve been missing too long and to describe you All I have is a name.
